The Wrekin Beer & Cider Festival

About The Wrekin Beer & Cider Festival

The Wrekin Beer & Cider Festival
A family-friendly event to celebrate the best of local beers, ciders and wines (and a few imports too! ). Lots of good music too all day and into the evening with plenty of local artists.

The Wrekin Beer & Cider Festival Description

The Wrekin Beer Festival was invented in 2010 by Richard Bateson, John McLean, Ron Ather and others from Leighton and its surrounds. It's become a firm favourite in the village calendar and is enjoying something of a renaissance having missed a year in 2016. It's a family-friendly event for those who love beer, cider, wine and generally just having a nice time in a nice place.

We hope you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves yesterday. If you are up and about this morning, there will be breakfast rolls around 10am for those turning up to help clear up. Later on, we'll be drinking up whatever's left (on an honesty-box arrangement). Can't let it be tipped down the drain...

And the beers are tapped!

How many people does it take to put up a marquee? More than you can shake a tent pole at, apparently.

Volunteers getting the site ready for tomorrow’s festival. The blind leading the blind. Let’s hope this tent is up by tomorrow. #SomeHope

Have you got your sun-hats and sunscreen ready for tomorrow? Looks like you’re going to need them 😎😎😎Have you got your sun-hats and sunscreen ready for tomorrow? Looks like you’re going to need them 😎😎😎

Tonight we'll be tapping the beers from 6.30pm onwards, hopefully with a bit less froth than this!

How many of you heard our own Toria Millington plugging the Wrekin Beer & Cider Festival on BBC Radio 1 this morning? #GlastoAlternatives #PuttingLeightonOnTheMap

Well here’s a thing. Did you ever see a peacock the wrong way round before? Bit monochrome, aren’t they? (And the BeerFest hasn’t even started yet!). We have a few peacocks in Leighton (much loved by locals for their gentle cries) and this one seems not to understand that displaying to the pigeon (on the right) is not going to get either of them very far. Has to be seen to be believed. So come to the Wrekin Beer & Cider Festival and keep your eyes open for local wildlife.

Beer. Music. Sunshine. Guaranteed.

We'll be setting up the site on Friday evening at 6.30pm, at the Leighton village hall. If you're around to help, we'd love as many hands as can turn up! Please come and lend a hand if you can; and as an incentive, I'm sure we'll be retiring to the pub once set-up is done!

It's nearly here!
