Like all good mountaineers, Jamie understands the need to load up on essential minerals and nutrients after smashing Britain's highest. 🤣 #hotchocolateextracreamandamassivelumpofc ake

From: Sqn Ldr Roy Behenna Retd ML - DofE Gold Assessor & Flt Lt Rob Williams ML - Supervisor ….. RAF Air Cadets DofE Gold Qualifier Expedition in the Brecon Beacons for 4 days, despite a wet and windy day, the Group are in good spirits. It was also an eventful day, as the Group witnessed a scrambler motor biker come off his bike and hit a tree. As the biker was the last of a group, the other members were unaware of the incident, and the Gold Group had to assist the injured party until the other members of his party returned. The injured biker appeared to be suffering from concussion, and complained of tenderness around his ribs where he came in contact with the tree. After resting for some time, the biker was eventually escorted off the hill by his party. So now you know why we do First Aid Qualifications in RAF Air Cadets. :-)

Were smiling but the weather has put Ben Nevis out , disappointing but good decision made. Breakfast, dry off and head to Scafell!

Looking out on Cwm Ivy Marsh

Looking forward to a big weekend ahead with Andy Cummings supporting Jamie Lee Griffiths as he attempts the National 3 peaks challenge. No doubt he'll smash it, and I've already booked myself into a private hospital for recuperation and leg transplant 👍

Gower Walking Festival returns June 1-9 next year, and were already in the full throes of planning. As always we are keen to hear from people interested in leading walks. You'll be provided with full training and you can design and lead your own walk as part of a packed programme.

One of Snowdonias most beautiful lakes, Llyn Gwynant. The urge to dive in was too much. Nippy, but wondrous to have a dip beneath the magnificent mountains of North Wales 🙏

User

Up on Snowdon today with Marc and Elaine, usual culprits wearing yoga pants and hoodies because 'it was lovely at the bottom'. 😬 Claggy and plenty of mountain ming up top. Good day out though. 👍

User

Snowdon. There somewhere. Bit claggy up here today. 😬

Nice wander around North Gower today with Robin, Kirsti and Emily 👍

I do like this quote from the inimitable Fred Beckey. 🙏

User

By the way , the OS benchmark is also the Chinese character for 'No' ! 👍

User

The old OS 'benchmarks' are slowly disappearing, although London still has 18,000 of them apparently!
Spotted this one in Gower recently, but where......? 😉

Quite a few of our clients are now showing an interest in attaining one of the Mountain Training leadership awards, in particular the Hill and Moorland Leader (HML) and most notably the Mountain Leader (ML) Award. Were chuffed to bits about this. However, theres so much scaremongering and myths out there about following the awards route that we though the following top tips and handy hints may help clear the mist a little if your looking to become a 'professional'

A great 12 miler today with Mike and Ellen from Philly, and I don't mean Caer-philly! Fabulous people with a great love of Wales. Tomorrow they are off to Pembrokeshire then Snowdonia for more hiking. 👍

User

Great to be at the Gower Show today , along with Gower Walking Festival. John Ashley pictured had one of the last copies of his own book taken from the stand. Sure it was an innocent error but if you have it maybe you could return. 👍

Would recommend the beginners navigation course to anyone who wants to realise the advantages of being able to map read and navigate off the usual paths . Our instructor Stuart explained everything in an easy but precise way and after the course I'm confident that I can enjoy the joys of walking off the beaten path. Top marks to Stu and Tread Gower . Thank you

Stuart at Tread Gower is full of passion about Gower and has a vast amount of local knowledge about the history of the area and the flora and fauna. His guided tours come thoroughly recommended!

User

Just had a great day with Stuart and roy for an introduction to navigation. The weather conditions were apparently perfect for navigation being wet, windy and misty but spirits remained high! Roy and Stuarts extensive knowledge of the history, geology and hidden wells and cairns made the whole day go so quickly. Would strongly recommend to anyone who likes to get out and about in our beautiful wild areas. A great small group. I now feel so much more confident using a map and compass, pacing, identifying landmarks etc. looking forward to practicing my new skills.

User

Just a great day all round. Stuart is really supportive with an easy relaxed style which made the day fly by. There was plenty of time to take turns navigating and I learnt so many useful tips. Highly recommended.
