Is next Monday highlighted in your diary? Lights switch on in the Garden as soon as it turns dark Monday to Friday. Why not pop along and visit BRW Rotary's Santa? The Orangery Cafe will be open too for warm drinks and snacks. Just counting the days! Full details about Illuminations and Santa on the Event pages.

User

Oh, oh! Look who's popped into the Garden! That naughty elf tells us he's going to be hanging around until Santa arrives. Wonder what mischief he'll get up to while he's waiting. See if you can spot him next time you visit!😃🎅

User

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Whickham Co-op and all its great customers who've supported the Garden through the Local Community Fund. Regular visitors know that this has been a challenging year for the Garden and this has helped see us through. Here's Angela Brown's lovely photo of Dave Peacock receiving a large cheque from the Coop manager! Many thanks to you all.

Garden elves have been very, very busy! It's just 2 weeks until the lights switch on in the Garden. And BRW Rotary have arranged to bring Santa along for a couple of hours too (Yeah!!). Find all details in Events. Have you noticed some new arrivals in the Garden already?

User

Rotary of Blaydon, Ryton & Whickham - BRW tell us they'll also be bringing their friend, Santa to the Garden on Monday (10th Dec) and Wednesday (12th Dec) from 3.30-5.30pm. It's going to be magical!

User

We're really appreciating the lovely bright blooms of crimson flag (schizostylis) amongst the autumn foliage in the Garden. It was a popular selling plant this year and you can see why! We're planning to bring it back in 2019.

User

Just 4 weeks to go now until the Lights switch on in the Garden. This year Santa also pays 3 visits to the Garden courtesy of his friends at The Rotary Club of Blaydon, Ryton and Whickham. Check Events for details of this magical time!

User

By special request the Garden and Orangery Cafe will open on Remembrance Sunday, 11th November, 10am-12.30pm.

User

There's still time to add autumn colour to your garden. These lovely hanging baskets with winter flowering pansies / violas are only £12 each. Plenty more inspiration to be found around our Garden too. Why not drop by and enjoy a warming cuppa in the Orangery while you're there?

User

Our mini wildflower meadows are looking particularly lovely at the moment so the fairy folk have decided to move their village a little closer. Fantastic creativity courtesy of artist Pat Smith and her students.

User

User

This is an amazing 'hidden treasure' in Whickham. So different and a pleasure to visit. Beautiful gardens, little gazebos adding a bit of fun and magic for the children. A nice friendly chat if you want it or you can just sit inside or out and relax in peace. The coffee is very nice and price even better!

User

Really friendly people run the place great coffee & cakes well worth a visit to see what they have done opposite to this bridal path pub

Myself, my little girl and her grandad have just done the Easter Egg hunt and we absolutely LOVED it! After paying £30+ last year to do an egg hunt with the National Trust and the little ones only getting a tiny chocolate rabbit, (shocking, I know!) we are over the moon to have came across this beautiful little garden! Only £5 for the 3 of us to do the hunt and all the kids got a proper Easter Egg at the end. We hope this is held every year as we will definitely be coming back! PS - adored all those frogs in the pond!

User

Mr Peacock is a great person. A lovely resource to chill in. Have a chat and learn about gardening.

User

If you like gardens then I'd suggest it as a "must see" . Lots of little nooks and crannies, this garden it a true delight, with Inspiration around every corner.

Its a lovely place to wonder around or just sit and enjoy the peace.

User

Have been meaning to check this place out for ages as I remember it when I worked with learning disabled adults who lived at the Hermitage. What a gem - a haven of peace, and so much work has gone into it. Very freindly people too. Keep up the good work. x

User

Great little find! Lovely to explore with the kids and we'll definitely be back in the summer to see the garden in full bloom x

User

Always a great visit. I was absolutely thrilled when visiting the Garden Illuminations with some of my family tonight. The volunteers all need a medal and present off Santa ho ho ho x

User

Absolutely beautiful hidden gem! Couldn't believe this has been on our doorstop and we never knew! Garden is so well looked after and really is a lovely place to have a wander. It's so peaceful. Also had lunch in the cafe which was lovely & very reasonable - picked up a jigsaw from their bric-a-brac selection too. Honestly would recommend people to go along and support this local gem. Gardener was so nice to talk to, very informative about the plants and garden advice. Explained they are always looking for volunteers to help out so I would encourage anyone with some spare hours to go help them out!!

User
