Fareshare Southern Central

It has been the hottest day of the year, and the volunteer and staff team have worked so hard, being in the fridge has been a bonus. Tesco donated some amazing produce for our members. Which will be delivered tomorrow to members in Southampton, Basingstoke and Eastleigh. Thank you everyone.

Not all the team in this picture but want to thank you to everyone that supports southern central. We have settled in to the new warehouse.

Hope your all enjoying this fine weather. I work for an amazing charity , called FareShare. We recently relocated to new premises and i am looking for some furniture for our teams rest room. So please if you know any cafes that are closing and have some tables and chairs going for free please let me know. And a pub style bench i would be really grateful. We can collect.

1 in 8 people go hungry in the UK, yet perfectly good food is wasted every day in food production. This is because it can be more expensive to redistribute good quality surplus food to the charities which support the 8.4 million people in the UK who go hungry than it is to send it to other processes of disposal, like anaerobic digestion or animal feed. Good morning March was another busy month. We serviced 128 charities/community groups who provided 8562 meals for each week of March to individuals attending there group's. If you know any group's that may benefit from becoming a member please tell them to get in touch.

Volunteering Opportunity
FareShare Southern Central, works to relieve food poverty. We are part of a National FareShare network, fighting hunger and its underlying causes by distributing surplus food to many organisations throughout the surrounding areas. By ensuring good food is not wasted we turn an environment problem into a solution, helping to feed the most vulnerable in our community. You’ll be playing a vital role in our operations team. You will be unloading food fr...om the lorry, ensuring it meets our high standards and has been stored correctly. You will also be picking, packing and labelling food orders ready for them to be taken to the various projects in the area. This can be a physically demanding role as heavy lifting will be involved.

Hi everyone. We have had an amazing week. The depot is taking shape. Things are so much easier. We are gearing ourselves up to start recruiting more members. Linsey has survived her first week as a staff member, and has been great. The whole team has been amazing as usual. The temporary chillers were removed today. We have so much room. Further pictures tomorrow.

Hi everyone. I am pleased to announce the fridge and freezer are now fully operational. They are amazing. Actually too big to get into one picture. Also big thank you to the staff and volunteer team for all their hard work and support.

Today's update. Oh the team are so excited look at the size of our new fridge. It will soon be up and running.

I learned much more about Fareshare and the other programs it runs to also help long term unemployed or disabled into part time and even full time employment.

People in the UK go hungry for a number of reasons from unexpected redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. It's places like this that reach out and offer a much needed helping hand.
