About Friends Of St. James' Park
Friends of St. James' Park (FoSJP) was established in 2006. St. James' Park is in Shirley, Southampton UK. FoSJP's mission is to celebrate and enhance the life of St. James' Park and its community through social, environmental, and economic development.
Friends Of St. James' Park Description
Come along and play at our brilliant playgrounds!
We have something for everybody, including:
- Extensive play towers with rope bridges and large slides;
- Swings: cradle, toddler, and children's;
- Toddler play hut with ramp and small slide;
- Second toddler play hut;
- Mini roundabout;
- Trampoline;
- Bouncy belt bridge;
- 5 timber balance beams;
- Sandpit;
- Water play feature with 2 press taps, a dam, a pool
For the older ones we have:
- Zipwire
- Two-part climbing wall with handholds on both sides
- Basketball half court with hoop;
- Five pieces of outdoor gym equipment;
- Grass sunbathing bank;
- Tennis
We also have a large open space for dog walkers, ball games and other activities.
We hire out a community room, so feel free to get in touch if you want to hire this.
Our Cafe serves good reasonable food and drinks, and is open from 10am to 6 pm every day. (Please note from 1st October it will shut at 4. 30pm). For more information please contact us on events@fosjp.org. uk

We are very sorry to say that after 6 years there will no longer be a free advice clinic here at the park. December will be the last drop in session.
Noticed something new in the park? We are so happy to tell you that we are getting very close to unveiling our new Defibrillator! It's not quite ready for use, we will however do our best to launch it on our event Shirley Christmas Light switch on, Lantern making and Park Fair on the 24 November.

Hi all, we are looking for a few volunteers to help us out on Sunday 24 November, for the Shirley Christmas Light switch on, Lantern making and Park Fair. Helping kids decorate lanterns, tombola sale, and making sure people are having a lovely time at the Christmas light switch on at the precinct.
Coming soon!!! Online fun Dog Show! Due to the weather being miserable we have decided to run our dog show online this year! We will be announcing the categories and the t&c's shortly! Excited!!!
Hi guys! We need some help please. Have any of you attended the Active Nation sports session at the park? (They have run Zumba, football, after school sessions, Summer programme, Nerf Warz etc.) If so, can you give us and them some feedback on how you found it? They are applying for more funding to be able to keep going, but need to provide evidence that people enjoy and attend the classes. Have you got any positive stories or good feedback that the Park can pass on to them? Thank you! x
