Virgin Active

Not a member and now won't become one; I hear Edmund Keville, Operations Manager is a foul mouthed individual. He should be ashamed of his behaviour, and be mindful of who is watching and listening. He should lead by example. He needs to change his behaviour for the benefit of employees and customers alike; if not leave, because he is clearly not suited to management if he can't follow Virgin Active's own Rule 38 of membership which states the following

"You should conduct yourself in a quiet and well-mannered fashion when in or about a Club, and in a manner that will not disturb or impair the use and enjoyment of that Club by any other person. In particular you may not use foul, loud, or abusive language, nor will you behave in a threatening manner, nor will you molest, or harass, other Members, guests, visitors, or members of staff. You may not bring, use, or be under the influence of illegal drugs in any part of a Club. You may not bring any intoxicating liquor into a Club or be drunk in a Club".

If he can't say something pleasant and without swearing, best he doesn't say anything at all.

Certainly one of the better Virgin Active branches. Very spacious with excellent facilities. As expected from a Virgin Active Classic. Honestly think it's overpriced though.

Used to be pretty decent, but lately it’s getting more and more crowded, and the building works won’t finish until February which means missing machines, out of service ones, 50 spin bikes in the middle of the floor, and parking so far away you may as well walk.

Awful service - really bad customer service, particularly from the General Manager. They don't care about members without kids. Just want to make as much money as they can from kids swimming lessons. The gym is like a building site, everything is constantly broken. Overpriced and massively disappointing for £89 a month! Avoid!

Reasonable gym overall - good range of equipment and facilities/classes also has pool and steam room. However did not have anything above and beyond other virgin gyms which are priced much lower. Particularly poor is the car parking situation, which is often affected by rugby matches and can mean parking quite far away or being stuck in traffic when arriving/leaving.

It will be a great gym if they made sure they "always have parking for their customers " regardless the rugby.
I was 8-9 months pregnant ... had to park the whole time in middle of nowhere and walk in rain and mud to swim for hour .
The showers are mouldy and poorly cleaned . I had to just leave and shower at home ..
The steem room smells on mould and the pool always cold ... hot tub ... not hot ...
Very disappointed .. I won't renew my membership :( .

For the time I went to this gym, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I used the fitness suite at the top and it was more or less usually empty. I say that personal trainers should be a bit more available however.

Gym floor is unsupervised most of the time. Removing gym floor staff and just leaving everything to personal trainers has made the gym too close to a budget gym for comfort.

Other chains in the same price bracket offer programs and advice as part of the membership. At Virgin Active you have to pay for a package of PT.

Overall impression is that the club is not professionally run - problems everywhere, limited equipment, poor cleaning, no programs, classes difficult to book etc.

Car parking is very, very poor: dusty hardcore surface like you would find in a car pound. Often shut for days at a time when there is an event on at a stadium - or relocated to a muddy field next to the A316.

Virgin Active Twickenham what can I say?!
i have been a member of this gym for almost two years now and have one of those love hate relationships with the place, it is the only ' luxury' gym in the area of it's size, so you really are stumped for alternatives.
I must say it is the worst virgin active i have been to! ( I've taken advantage of the multiclub access and tried wallbrook. Canary wharf and aldetsgate) the equipment at twickenham is uninspiring and dull, dirty, never seen it cleaned, all black, and dusty. not the best variety.
Kingston Virgin Active is so much better, it is a great shame that Kingston has turned into a nuffield.
the classes are okay, but could be a lot better, on several occasions i have turned up to a class to find the instructor hasn't tuned up with no forewarning so you are left standing there with a fitness coach trying to make things up on the spot.
I have gained a stone since being at that gym, that is how uninspiring it is to attend! depressive atmosphere, dirty mouldy steam and sauna.
The only saving grace is the front of house reception staff who are excellent, friendly and always welcoming and willing to help, they have been trained really well.
But the gym is nowhere near worth the £104 a month fee.
They don't even have small hand towels in the gym for you to wipe down the equipment which is unhygienic .
the place is in desperate need of a revamp looks wise and step up the quality of classes, i have been left bored in several and left the class early.
If only i lived closer to third space in canary wharf i would go running back there!

I have been a member for a year now with my 2 kids and husband. I love this gym. Staff are amazing - super helpful and friendly. The creche is wonderful, lovely staff and the facilities are superb. We love this club

Horribly run gym, not even taking in to account the extortionate membership fee. Always a mess, dirty, equipment breaking and taking an age to fix and only a handful of staff that will actually talk to you.

This is a very very good Virgin Active branch! The staff are great and the customer services! The pool: Clean! It only has 0.003% chlorine and the rest is UV Filtered so this is great for people who has skin problems. The changing rooms: Very clean! But you do need your own lock! The gym: Great! The equipment is great and very new!
